Love our passionate PORSE Educator

The instant we met our PORSE Educator Rianda I could feel her passion, love, and care through her interactions with us. I could sense her enthusiasm for learning and her understanding of what my daughter needed. My daughter was instantly in love with her, and just flourished in her new environment. She quickly grew into a confident young girl, her communication improved and as did her ability to compromise and make positive decisions. I feel so lucky that Rianda is in our life, because every day my daughter has a learning adventure that supports and reflects her current skills, interests, and strengths. Rianda and her family have become our extended family.

Perfect Ed with PORSE

We were lucky to find the perfect Educator for our son. He is a quiet boy and we worried he would get lost in a big centre. When we met Shona we knew her nurturing nature would benefit him, and he has really flourished under her care.
He asks every morning, including the weekend, if he’s going to Shona’s. He talks fondly about her whānau and really feels part of the family – it’s his home away from home. At times, when my son is on autopilot he calls me Shona, I think that speaks volumes about the bond he has with Shona and her role in his life.
My son always gets so much out of his outings with Shona and the PORSE children – whether it be to the local playground, a walk down to see the trees with knitted coats or Tumble Time and other PORSE events.
Equally, my son loves his time at Shona’s house as there is always stimulating toys to play with, bikes to ride or arts and crafts to make. Shona caters to the children’s interests and ensures they are always learning and developing key skills through a wide range of activities.
Shona is always interested in the learning stages Asher is entering and exiting. She strives to ensure his transitions through these stages are enjoyable and created a toilet training chart to help him through that phase.
My son is now the oldest child in PORSE care and has developed great empathy for the younger children and knows not to give the little toys to the babies. We feel very blessed to have found Shona to build this connection, and I feel her great values, such as good manners, have rubbed off on my son

Peace of mind for a working parent

I knew straight away that my daughter would get the best care with PORSE In-Home Educator Janet. Straight away Janet got down on the floor and started talking to her while chatting to me in the background. She treated my daughter like she was the most important person in the room. It gave me peace of mind knowing that she would be cared for in a loving, nurturing environment.
My daughter is now four and has a strong bond with Janet and the other children in her care. Shea has learnt how to create friendships, show empathy and kindness to other children and manage disagreements when they arise. She's learning the skills to socialise in her PORSE home and then puts them into practice when they are at PORSE music group or the playground.

I am the general manager of PORSE today, but I've used PORSE since my oldest boy (now five) was just six months old. We opted for a nanny model initially to support us to transition back to work and get used to the idea of my boy being cared for by someone else. We had a 'granny nanny' who very quickly became a part of our family and was a massive help in the early days as a new mum trying to juggle the work/family life. When my boy was two, we started with a Home Educator alongside our nanny. This gave him the opportunity to be around other kids but in a nurturing, secure environment. He loved this and has made lasting friendships and connections. Our youngest son (now three) has also been a 'PORSE kid', going to the same Home Educator as his older brother with a Nanny providing extra hours and support with drop offs and pick ups. I highly rate PORSE - they get the constant juggle that is the life of a working mum and the childcare options are tailored to fit this. I get daily updates online of what's happening and can talk to my boys about their day in a meaningful way when I pick them up. The communication is great. They're not just a number in a room - they are a part of a family. They've thrived in a home environment where they get to have one on one attention and care. We could not and would not have done it any other way.
