My eldest son started at XL Preschool when he was around 18mths old and my youngest son started at around 15mths. I love XL and so have/do my boys, the teacher's are the kindest, most loving and caring group of ladies (and now men) you could meet. I wouldn't have enrolled my youngest there if I didn't think that the children were being looked after and cared for. The teachers not only look after the children there, they also care very much about them. Both of boys have said and the youngest still does say I love my teacher's, they have become a part of the family over the last 8 years. I have also recommended XL to quite a number of other parents and at least one of them has also enrolled a second child. I love that at XL my child is not just looked at as just another number for the monthly enrolment target that needs to be meet but is treated as a child should be with love, respect and most of all kindness as all children should. It is a small centre but it is BIG in so many other ways!
My Rating for Staffing is 5/5
Pricing - is very good and you get a discount for having two or children in enrolled at one time. Rating 5/5
Support - Couldn't ask for a more supporting group
Environment - This has improved alot over the last six months or so. New lighting inside which is wonderful, new sandpit cover (and sand) which keeps the sand nice and clean and dry when it's raining, new bag hooks inside. 4/5

I was a little suspicious of the June 2015 review due to the 100% downgrading the reviewer gave (even including pricing which is actually extremely reasonable) based upon what appear to be fairly innocuous incidents. I do expect that kids will be kids and don't expect children to be wrapped in cotton wool. So we gave XL Preschool a try after our beloved Porse lady left town, and felt very apprehensive about the sudden increase in numbers of kids because our girl is so tiny. The staff however went out of their way to ease the transition for her, to the point where she is excited to get there now and we feel very satisfied that she is safe and cared for. We like the mixture of staff ethnicities and the fact there is a male staff member. The managers were very clear and receptive when dealing with specific issues we have, and really go the extra mile to cater to special requirements, including dietary. We were uncomfortable at one point about sweet treats being given to the kids and to their credit the staff agreed and stopped doing this - so cannot fault them for their receptiveness to parent preferences. We at first thought the area was quite dark and chilly because of a very large tree overhead - but they have very effective new heat pumps for winter and its brilliant in sunny weather because much of the play area is sheltered by the tree.
Jonathon B likes: Good mix of ages, Safe baby area, good food, receptive staff, great value
