AGE RANGE: Licensed to care for children from 2 years of age
NUMBER OF CHILDREN: The centre operates on a small and personal scale for children and families. It is licensed for 50 or fewer children. It is what we call a 'boutique' early childhood centre.
IS THIS SERVICE HIGHLY PARENT RATED?: Before choosing a service you want to know if it comes highly recommended by other users. Check out the reviews posted below - are there any? Does it have at least 5 recent positive reviews if a small centre, or 10 if a mega-sized centre or a home-based service?
WARNING: Don't worry - this service did not receive a licence downgrade for non-compliance with the Education (ECE) Regulations or licensing requirements last year or the year before.
My son has been here for 2 years. It's a small centre so he knows everyone and we know all the kids and teachers (and most of the parents), which we like and builds our trust. A large whanau for him. We've always been happy with the centre but have seen a big improvement since the new head teacher started in late 2016. At our recent AGM she set out the way they are approaching learning and encouraging the kids to see themselves as learners, which fits with what I have read about the importance of a growth mindset. We also like the big outdoor area.
Mel B likes: Focus on learning, focus on social skills, big outdoor area with trees and sandpit, newly renovated inside, Homecooked meals provided, positive friendly teachers, new head teacher, parent cooperative so confident the kids come first, Story park
Mel B dislikes: Hard to park nearby all day, Generally doesn't take under 2s
