Parents are provided with written details on how the centre’s Ministry of Education funding has been spent including the amounts. (Note that the frequency that a centre should supply information and how detailed the information should be is not specified in the requirements. However, it is a legal requirement for all centres to give parents financial information on the amount of funding received and what it has been spent on, and therefore a parent’s request for this information at any time cannot be refused).

Note that different categories of ECE service have different funding rates. The National Kōhanga Reo Trust and the NZ Playcentre Federation have some variations to the minimum standards as set out in the early childhood education regulations and criteria that must be meet to be granted funding, for example more adults per children than the minimum standard for ratios.
